1)The comparison of my work tells me how much my understanding has improved. For my first piece I drew a blue and purple fish to show the theme water. But as my understanding grew I decided to do something more complex that meant something to me so I decided to draw a house on the ocean. My technical skills have definitely improved throughout this semester. I've experimented with different supplies and learned new techniques to get to where I am now. 2) a. My work is related to the culture we live in because now with all the technology we have available to us people are able to do things that before people would never even think of. I did my work about cat fishing which is pretty much a person who is intentionally deceptive about there identity when creating a social media profile, trying to make a romantic connection. My work critiques elements of modern culture again with technology. We have laptops, iPods, iPads, smartphones and so much more. As long as you have internet you could do pretty much anything you could ever think of which good be either a good or a bad thing. 3) I enjoyed doing the artists currate, observation and artists communicate projects the most. I really liked doing my drawing of Ariel, I think it was my best post of the semester. For the observation project I enjoyed having the freedom to walk around and look for things to take pictures of.Finally I liked doing the artists communicate because I think catfishing is really interesting and I watch the MTV show "Catfish". I don't think I would change anything about this class. I really enjoyed it. 1) I developed my idea from being in apparel class and doing design sketches. I enjoyed designing the different clothing and already had the outline; so therefore I was able to trace the outlines and design my clothing off the ideas I got from Pinterest. I also made a cool title page with clothing, jewelry, shoes, makeup etc. •http://pinterest.com/Themadisonlopez/fashion-design/ 2) I was inspired from my love for clothing and makeup. I thought it would be something easy that I enjoyed doing. I think my outlines came out good and the clothing was alright but the skin color didn't come out the way I wanted it to. 3)Yes I like having the choice because then your mostly working on something you enjoy and if you don't end up liking it you can always change what you do. I also like it because not everyone has the same level of skill so you can work at your own pace and everyone's is different. 1) My artwork is about Catfishing online. Catfishing is referring to a person who is intentionally deceptive about there identity when creating a social media profile, often having the goal of making a romantic connection. I choose to make a page about Catfishing with text and pictures to inform and go into more detail telling what's it's really about. As you can tell identity is the major issue in the whole "Catfishing" situation and it could be for many different reasons including being insecure about themselves, not knowing who they wanna be with (experimenting) or just simply escaping what's going on in there life's. 2) I planned first by looking at articles about Catfishing and picking out important information . Second I found pictures online/Pinterest. Third I sketched out ideas I had about what identity means. •http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/anthropology-in-practice/2014/04/25/catfishing-the-truth-about-deception-online 3) I used acrylic paint to make a background and I also used images and text to show and inform about Catfishing and why people do it. I feel like my work is pretty effective but if you wanted to see it for yourself you can watch the show on MTV it is very interesting to see if the person is who they say they are and if not there reason for pretending to be someone. 1) At the beginning of this unit I thought that It would be challenging and I would have difficulty making it turn out nice. After we did several pieces with different limitations my thoughts were very different. I think it was very enjoyable and I really liked the fact we were able to choose what we wanted to do and experiment to see what we liked best. 2) I choose to work with painting without paint brushes. I selected this because I found this cool idea on Pinterest were you put a piece of paper on wood/cardboard and wrap rubber bands around the whole thing. From there you paint on the rubber bands, pull back and let it splatter on your paper. I am happy how it turned out. Blog questions 1) I learned with observation that there is endless things you can observe and multiple ways of doing so. Now with technology there are things like filters, cropping, zooming, editing , ect that allow you observe things in different ways. We learned about observation by going around each day taking pictures of different things with different edits on them. We then had to take four observational pictures to show things we like called a "faceless portrait". Also we were shown 2 pictures first upright and then upside down and were asked to draw how we see them. That was probably the hardest thing we had to do but I enjoyed taking photography. 2) For this project I wanted to use photography so I decided the easiest thing to do would be to use pictures from my childhood to show how I've changed over the years. I decided to put it on a neon pink poster board titled "My Journey". To add a more personal touch to it I put quotes I liked that pertained to life. |
